Warwick University – filled with big rooms, small rooms, square rooms, round rooms, lecture rooms and classrooms…but does it have a prayer room? Good news: YES it does! Alhamdulillah we have a beautiful prayer room which is situated in Coventry House, on central campus. The prayer room in Coventry House incorporates:
ENTRANCES
There are two entrances: one at the end of the sloped road next to Library Café, walking towards the Chaplaincy, used mainly by the sisters. The other entrance is located adjacent to the Chaplaincy and is used mainly by the brothers. Both entrances are security enabled so please carry your university cards along with you to gain access to the facility. If you have any problems accessing the Islamic Prayer Hall with your university card, please feel free to contact a member of the Exec and we would be happy to help you out.
WUDHU (ABLUTION) FACILITIES
A separate purpose built section for wudhu (ablution) has also been designed for both sisters and brothers. Please keep the wudhu area as clean as you would like for yourself.
PRAYER ROOM
The Prayer Room is where all the daily congregational prayers, Jummah, and Iftaars & Tarawih take place. It is open 24
hours a day, 7 days a week, and is open to all Warwick students, employees and visitors, Muslim and non-Muslim. We ask that you take efforts to keep the Prayer Room clean and tidy at all times, as this is a duty upon all of us.
KITCHEN
By the grace of Allah, we have also been blessed with a kitchen that contains many facilities, including microwave ovens, cooking stoves, a baking oven, a fridge/freezer and much more, all for your use! There are also FREE snacks
provided by ISOC. Please feel free to use any of these facilities, at any time, while keeping the kitchen as clean as possible.
LIBRARY
The Islamic Prayer Room is also equipped with its own library with a very substantial collection of books on a diverse range of topics. We are also pleased to have Quran copies in a multitude of languages: Arabic, English, Bengali, Chinese, French, Malay, Urdu, and much more. The library is intended for quiet study only.
TOILETS + DISABLED ACCESS
Toilets with water facilities for washing up is provided on both sisters and brothers side. Additionally there is a disabled toilet access on the brothers’ side.
If you have any queries regarding the location or use of any facilities within the Islamic Prayer Hall, please feel free to contact a member of the exec for more information.
