ISOC Connections

This year sees the continuation of the successful ISoc Connections scheme, which is aimed at helping you meet others who may be on your course, have similar interests, or who may just want to chill out.

IS IT FOR ME?
Well, why not, ask yourself the following questions:
Are you a first year? Do you want to meet more Muslims? Want to meet people with similar interests? Want to find some people with the same hobbies? Need help with your studies? Want a gym/squash/badminton buddy?

If the answer to ANY of these questions is YES, then ISoc Connections is for you!

HOW DOES IT WORK?
After registering your interest with us, we will put you in touch with other registered Muslims with similar interests, and then it’s down to you – it could be that you never contact them or that a lifetime friendship blossoms. Basically, what you take out of the scheme is your choice, so why not give it a go?
Hmmmm…
Still not convinced? Well, do any of the following scenarios ring a bell?

“Questions one and two aren’t too bad but number three just seems impossible;
if only I knew a genius who could help!”

Solution: Alhamdulillah, the ISoc is full of bright sisters and brothers. The
ISoc Connections can help you meet someone who is on your course who
will be more than happy to help you out.

“It’s Monday night and the entire corridor is off to Top B; it seems like another
dull night alone in my room… don’t know how many weeks I can
keep this up.”

Solution: Another sister or brother may be thinking the exact same thing;
someone else may have a free evening just like you, and this “someone”
you may well meet through ISoc Connections!

Since coming to university I have not played squash for ages; none of my
housemates play and I can’t be bothered to join the squash club, but I’d
still love a game or two”

Solution: Many ISoc members are sporty and it’s very likely that you will
meet someone with a passion for squash through the ISoc Connections…
imagine the hours of fun you could be missing just because you didn’t join
the ISoc Connections Scheme

Ok, you have me convinced…

BUT WHO ELSE WILL JOIN?
We reckon that EVERYONE should join the scheme, whether you’re a first year, final year or post-graduate student. We all have something to gain from and give to the scheme.

Well, what are you waiting for? You have NOTHING to lose and potentially EVERYTHING to gain. So, email the ISoc at islam@sunion.warwick.ac.uk and we’ll take things from there, Insha’Allah. On the other hand, if you are still unsure, then please contact a member of the exec and we will be happy to answer any queries.
