1.Quran verses of the week

All-Knower of the unseen and the seen, the Most Great, the Most High. (9) It is the same (to Him) whether any of you conceal his speech or declare it openly, whether he be hid by night or goes forth freely by day. (10)For him (each person), there are angels in succession, before and behind him.They guard him by the Command of Allâh. Verily! Allâh will not change the (good) condition of a people as long as they do not change their state (of goodness) themselves (by committing sins and by being ungrateful and disobedient to Allâh). But when Allâh wills a people’s punishment, there can be no turning back of it, and they will find besides Him no protector. (11) It is He who shows you the lightning, as a fear (for travellers) and as a hope (for those who wait for rain). And it is He Who brings up (or originates) the clouds, heavy (with water). (12)

2.Quran Recitation Competition

Local competition: February 2nd 2010,6pm-9pm at R0.03/04, Warwick UniversityRegional competition: February 16th 2010, Leicester University
National competition: June 18th – 20th 2010, At the FAC 2010 in Oxford

To register for the competition, please fill in the form here by midnight on January 22nd 2010.
This is not just a simple competition but a fantastic opportunity to get closer to Allah through the Quran. We would like to encourage everyone to participate – both those with greater and lesser experience with the Quran.
The competition is divided into three stages; the local, regional and national stage. The local competition will take place to nominate the 8 participants who will go on to represent Warwick University in each of the 8 sections.
No memorisation is required for the Tajweed however you are required to select surats from a predetermined list. Please refer to the leaflet for more information.

Brother Harith will continue to elaborate on the life of our beloved Prophet (pbuh). All are welcome, you don’t need to have attended the earlier circles in the series to benefit from this one.

10.Change of structure for the new Islamic Society execs

Election for the new execs will be happening in a couple of weeks from now and we would like to give the members a glance at a few major changes that we have decided to be implemented in the new structure of the new ISOC execs;amongst them are,the inclusion of syura and reduction of the number of execs.
