Insya Allah, ISoc elections will be held next week, thursday, 4 February 2010 (details on time and venue will be confirmed in the next weekly email, next sunday)
An overview of how this election will proceed is as follows,
1.Nomination Process
All members will be able to nominate any member for all the post that will be contested. There’s no restriction on gender for all posts including president. Sisters and brothers will be able to equally compete for all of them.

Nomination will be opened from now until 11pm, Saturday, 30/01/2010. Please make sure that you provide the candidate’s full name and email address.You can nominate by going to this link
2.Acceptance/Rejection Period
After nomination ends, each candidates will be personally contacted and they can make a decision whether to accept or reject the nomination. If the candidate chooses to accept the nomination, a manifesto must be submitted to islam@sunion.warwick.ac.uk before 11pm, Monday, 1 February 2010.
3.Election Night
Thursday, 4 February 2010, time and venue are to be confirmed. On the election night, every candidate must present his/her manifesto on the stage and Q & A sessions will proceed for every one of them.
4.Positions To Be Contested
President
- The president would act as the link:
i) between the executive officers and shura and,
ii) between the Isoc and Warwick Student Union, and,
iii) between the Isoc and the Chaplaincy, and,
iv) between the Isoc and the university administration
- The president would further be responsible for:
- Monitoring and reviewing the exec members’ progress.
- Representing the Isoc (in media/events/university).
- Reviewing the performance, aims and visions of the society.
Vice President
- The vice president would be responsible for:
- Supporting and helping the president his duties.
- Assuming responsibility in the absence of the president
- Reviewing the performance, aims and visions of the society.
- Monitoring and reviewing the exec members’ progress.
Secretary
- The secretary would be responsible for:
- Handling the technical aspect of the exec and shura meetings. This would include room
bookings, preparing the meeting agenda and record meeting minutes.
- Managing emails.
- Preparing and submitting an annual report.
- Preparing written reports of events.
- Maintaining a central Isoc archive (which stores the society’s reports, photos, videos,
etc)

Treasurer
- The treasurer would be responsible for:
- Managing the Isoc’s cash-flow and budget-planning.
- Securing sponsorship to fund the society.
- Sending the request for the annual budget to theWarwick Student Union
- Publishing an annual financial report.
PR Officer
-The PR officer would be the Head of Public Relations Sub-committee
Role of sub-committee include:
- Maintaining connection with other ISOCs and other societies
- Working with the International Office.
- Managing the OrientationWeek.
- Publishing the as-Salaam Newsletter.
Media Officer
- The Media Officer would be the Head of Media Sub-committee
Role of sub-committee include:
- Managing the official Isoc website, Facebook, Twitter, etc.
- Being responsible for publicity materials for events, namely posters, booklets etc.
- Being responsible for documenting events. This would include taking photos and
recording videos of events
Welfare Officer
- The Welfare Officer would be the Head ofWelfare Sub-committee
Role of sub-committee include:
- Managing the prayer hall.
- Managing the prayer hall library.
- Managing the weekly Friday prayers.
- Managing the weekly (seerah) classes.
Events Officer
- The Events Officer would be the Head of Events Sub-committee
Role of sub-committee include:
- Doing research on current issues for campaigning purposes.
- Planning and managing events.
- Organising halal food trips.
